About Africa Safari
Who We Are
Africa Safari is an African-led partnership platform headquartered in the Netherlands and rooted in East Africa. We connect Africa and Europe through learning, culture, tourism, research and enterprise — building long-term relationships where knowledge, opportunity and responsibility are shared.
We are not simply a travel company, an academy, a festival organiser or a social enterprise. We are a partnership platform powered by social enterprise. Everything we do exists to create, deepen and sustain meaningful partnerships between Africa and Europe.
Our Founder
Africa Safari was founded by Daniel Benon Okiror — musician, educator, researcher, social entrepreneur and Official Cultural Ambassador to the Ateker Iteso Kingdom in the Netherlands.
Daniel's journey began not in a classroom but in communities — children living on the streets of Soroti and Kampala, families navigating poverty, young people whose knowledge, creativity and resilience were never recognised by formal institutions. Through Beats of Hope Africa, he learned what no university teaches: that knowledge lives in communities long before it reaches academic papers.
Working inside Dutch institutions — universities, municipalities, community centres — Daniel saw both genuine commitment and structural limitation. Organisations sincerely wanted inclusion. They wanted partnership. They wanted to reach communities. But the models they used often reproduced the very inequalities they sought to address. That gap — between institutional intention and community reality — became the founding question of Africa Safari.
Our Philosophy
Traditional international engagement often begins with charity. Africa Safari begins with partnership.
Instead of asking "What can we bring to Africa?" we ask "What can Africa and Europe learn, build and create together?"
We believe knowledge flows in multiple directions. European universities contribute research. African communities contribute lived experience. Entrepreneurs contribute innovation. Artists contribute cultural understanding. Every participant becomes both teacher and learner.
