The Vision Behind Praise Him the African Way
Daniel's personal declaration of Christian faith and ministry conviction.
From the Source of the Nile, let the sound of praise arise.
A sound of hope, renewal, joy and freedom.
A sound that honours God and points to Jesus Christ.
I believe African believers have something to bring to the Church in Europe and to the nations.
When an African believer, wholeheartedly surrendered to God, dances and sings as David danced before the Lord, the strongholds of fear, perfectionism and the need for human approval break. Praise rises freely, with joy in the heart and reverence for God.
We are no longer performing to impress people. We are worshipping God.
Not another gospel, but the same Gospel of Jesus Christ, expressed through the voices, instruments and rhythms God has given us.
The Bible calls us to praise the Lord with the harp, the lyre, the tambourine and dancing. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
The piano can carry our praise. So can the Akogo, the Adungu, our drums and our voices.
We do not have to leave our African identity behind to worship Jesus. We bring who we are before Him, and we worship Him in spirit and in truth.
I believe the African Church has a part to play in bringing spiritual renewal to Europe. Not because we are better, or because we have all the answers, but because God has given every people something to contribute to His Kingdom.
From the Source of the Nile, we want to send forth praise, worshippers and witnesses of Jesus Christ.
Where faith has grown cold, may hearts be awakened again.
Where hope has faded, may people encounter the love of God.
Where reverence has been forgotten, may the fear of the Lord return.
We come to worship together, Africans and Europeans, learning from one another and bringing our different gifts before the same Lord.
Every tribe. Every nation. Every language. Every rhythm.
One body. One Lord. Jesus Christ.
May our music lead people beyond the sound of the instruments to the One we worship.
And may our praise become something we live, through love, service and the way we treat one another.
From the Source of the Nile to the nations, let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
