We will reply to confirm availability and arrange payment. Sending a request does not automatically confirm your place or record a payment.

If you book online, contact us with your preferred Monday date and order number so we can confirm your attendance date. A purchase selects your session option, not a dated appointment.

Your Weekly Musical Journey

Africa Safari Academy offers weekly African music and cultural learning, organised around approximately four sessions each month.

Through singing, rhythm, traditional African instruments and ensemble playing, participants develop musical skills while exploring the languages, stories and cultural knowledge behind the music.

Beginners can start with accessible musical parts, while returning participants deepen their technique, repertoire and ensemble skills.

Learning continues from month to month. The Academy is both a place for musical development and a community where people connect, contribute and grow together through music.

A Typical Monday at Africa Safari Academy

18:00–18:10 — Musical Welcome & Ubuntu Connection
Begin together through rhythm, song, listening and connection.

18:10–18:45 — Instrument & Vocal Learning
Explore Akogo, Adungu, African percussion, singing, technique and the cultural meaning behind the music.

18:45–19:30 — Guided Ensemble Practice
Bring voices, rhythms and instruments together, developing a shared repertoire and musical skills over time.

19:30–19:45 — Musical Closing & Reflection
Finish the music together, share feedback and celebrate progress.

Times describe a typical session. Musical activities and instruments may vary according to the repertoire and participants' learning needs.

What You Will Experience

• East African rhythms and communal drumming (Djembe.Ateus.Ngoma)
• Hands-on time with traditional instruments including the Akogo (thumb piano) and Adungu (bow harp) etc
• African songs, call-and-response traditions and storytelling through music
• The Ubuntu philosophy of music — how rhythm creates belonging
• Cultural context and the living stories behind the music
